British Isles Field School

The primary objective of this course is the application of geographical field techniques in the British Isles and Ireland. The field school is centered on five basic sites: Exeter, Cork, Galaway, Bangor, and Edinburgh. At each site, students conduct one day human and physical geography field exercises.

Through a field study students will learn how to look at geography in the field from a professional point of view. Field work nurtures and stimulates the curiosity and respect for and about places that are at the center of a holistic and geographic education and awareness. In the process of field work, cultural barriers are broken down and personal skills develop sensitivity to the cultural, social and environmental variety that is the essence of humanity's relationship with the earth.
