THEA Test

The State of Texas requires that all undergraduate students, both international and U.S. citizens, take the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) before registering for classes. The THEA tests reading, writing, and mathematics skills. Students who have completed a U.S. Bachelor's degree or its equivalent OR who have 3 college/university level credits prior to September 1989 are exempt from taking the THEA test. Other THEA exemptions are also available.

The THEA test is not needed for admission to the University of North Texas; however, it is required before you are allowed to register for classes. The test is offered several times throughout the year and is also available during International Student Orientation Week. For more information on the THEA test, please visit UNT's THEA Office website.
