After You Apply

Application Process

Thank you for your interest in UNT!  Your college application is important to us and it will go through several necessary admissions processing stages.  Include an email address with your application so that we can send a "status letter" and your admission tracking number when we initially process your application.  This office sends several important email messages via international@unt.edu during the application process, so remember to remove spam blocker from your personal email account.

1.  Upon receipt of the application form AND application fees, the data entry is completed in 5-7 work days.  At the end of this stage applicants receive a detailed "application status" email message.  Also, applicants receive an email with instructions to activate the UNT Personal Portal Page which includes your 8-digit student ID, EUID and PIN number.

2.  Access UNT portal 24/7 to check the status of your application.  It is very important to review the To-Do-List to determine any missing application material(s) such as official/original academic transcript, and proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.)

3.  Application will be processed for admissions review AFTER all required materials are received.  Undergraduate admission is reviewed by UNT International Admissions trained officers.  Master/Doctoral/Second Bachelor admissions determination is performed at the chosen major department, and/or the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies.

4.  When admitted, this office will issue the admissions letter and/or I-20 or DS-2019 (for F-1 or J-1 visa) documents.  Normal processing time is 1-2 weeks from date of admissions.  To prevent delays in receiving I-20 document, it is very important that Financial Support documents are provided promptly.

5.  Admitted applicants receive email notification AFTER the I-20 is issued and the admissions package is mailed.  Also, receives SEVIS number to begin non-immigrant visa application process.  Students may choose to pay optional $40 courier or express mail fee for faster delivery.

Status Checks

Applicants may check your status online once we have given you your UNT 8-digit Student ID (E.g. 1069XXXX). Applicants may also check the admissions status by sending us an email with a subject of "status check".  Due to the volume of application, it takes 1-2 weeks to respond, therefore online status check is highly encouraged.

Orientation

International Student Orientation is MANDATORY for all F-1 and J-1 visa holders. All other international students MUST participate in Document Check-in. New International students must meet with the International Advising office for any immigration related advising.  International Student Orientation and Document Check-in are only available during scheduled Orientation and Registration periods.  Also, undergraduate students MUST attend University Orientation.

Registration

Registration for classes cannot occur until after you have attended all required orientations on campus. The registration schedule is listed online.
