Some academic departments provide funding for students in the form of fellowships, scholarships and assistantships. These are usually awarded to graduate students, although there may be some exceptions. The department of Economics offers paid positions for tutors, graders, teaching assistants, research assistants, and teaching fellows. There are some undergraduate and graduate scholarships as well. There are special scholarships for UNT undergraduates who continue into the graduate program at UNT.

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature offers several undergraduate scholarships in French, German, and Spanish, including some for study abroad. See UNT Study Abroad Center. The department also offers assistance through paid teaching positions in France.
The hospitality management program awards several scholarships to current students and incoming freshmen. Applications are due February 1 each year.
Division of Keyboard Studies offers competitive scholarships on the basis of talent and achievement. These awards provide in-state tuition (lower rate) and $500 per term. Larger awards are possible.
The department of Management offers fifteen scholarships to students enrolled in the department's programs.
