When Applying for a Visa with an Initial Attendance I-20

The Department of Homeland Security has established a new SEVIS fee. If your I-20 or DS-2019 document was issued on or after September 1, 2004, and you are applying for an F or J visa, you will need to pay this fee before applying for the visa.

You can set up your appointment for the visa interview before paying the fee. You must have paid the fee before you go for an interview.

The payment, whether by internet or mail, must be recorded on the Department of Homeland Security's system at least 3 days before the visa application, unless you have the receipt with you. We strongly recommend that you take your receipt with you, no matter which method you use to pay.

You can choose which method of payment you would like to use:

You can use this method of payment if you have:
    1. Internet access
