Required Documents

This chart shows the financial documents accepted by UNT for students with F and J visas. You MUST submit documentation for each source of funds that you choose.

Sources Required Documents
Submit one or more of these documents to equal the required funds.
Student Funds Deposit Bank statement. Examples of acceptable statements are: checking or savings accounts, certificates of deposit, mutual, stock, or bond funds, and/or other accessible funds.
Family, Friends Required:
  1. Sponsor Statement
    1. Statement that he/she will financially sponsor the student
    2. Student's name
    3. Sponsor's name and relationship to student (for example: father, brother, aunt, etc.)
    4. Sponsor's signature and date
  2. Bank statement for checking, savings and/or other accessible account. If statement is online, it must include sponsor's name, date, balance and weblink.
  3. Certificates of deposit; mutual, stock or bond funds; and/or other accessible funds
  4. Affidavit of Provision of Room and Board by U.S. provider. (Available upon request or from the Admissions Office).
Sponsoring Agency Official letter of sponsorship
UNT Funding Insurance Official offer letter from department - If you are eligible for an out-of-state waiver through employment, you must show proof of smaller amounts than those shown above. Please document the amounts listed on this form. (Some exceptions apply, depending on medical/health coverage provided by institution in certain cases).
Private Company or Other Business Required:
  1. Sponsor Statement 
    1. Statement (on company letterhead) that the business will financially sponsor the student
    2. Student's name
    3. Name of responsible party at the company or business
    4. Responsible party's signature and date
  2. Bank statement or other demonstration of financial resources
Employment of Sponsor, Family, Friend, etc. Required:
  1. Sponsor Statement
    1. Statement that he/she will financially sponsor the student
    2. Student's name
    3. Sponsor's name and relationship to student (for example: father, brother, aunt, etc.)
    4. Sponsor's signature and date
  2. Official letter from sponsor's employer showing annual earnings of at least three (3) times the required amount.

Format for Financial Documents

  1. Documents must be in English.
  2. Documents may be sent by mail or fax.
  3. Documents must bear a signature, official seal, or be on letterhead from an official agency.

Dates of Financial Documents

  • Documents must be DATED LESS than twelve (12) months old when presented to UNT.
