Core Classes (4 hours in class every day, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday)

The core curriculum at IELI is divided into two parts and includes:

Communication class (reading, listening, speaking, pronunciation and vocabulary)

Writing/Grammar class (writing, grammar, and library research)

Placement Test
-
New IELI students take a placement test before classes begin. This test places students in levels 0-6, based on language skills. The test includes listening, reading, grammar, and composition. No preparation is needed to take the two-hour test. Results of the test are available the next day.

Attendance

Class attendance is required for students to remain in status. Students may be dismissed after five absences.

Supplemental Class (3 hours each week)

Lab class (Levels 0, 1, 2, and 3)

Academic Skills Class for Listening & Note-taking (Levels 4, 5 and 6)
- Attendance is required.
Teacher Office Hours (optional)

Each teacher schedules two hours outside of class each week for additional tutoring and help for students.
IELI (half time) and UNT (half time)
-
Undergraduate students in IELI Level 6 can take UNT credit classes at the same time at the beginning of each Spring or Fall semester.
